Children, and the fact I will one day have my own, inspire me so much. I continuously look after my body, my mind, my marriage and relationships to prepare myself the best way I can. Children may be little but their age and size does not determine how strong of a positive impact they have in this world. In fact, I know the world would be a much better place if we started seeing things from their perspective.
Lauryn Smith is 8 years old, she is a girl with so much sass and confidence. After seeing how much she loves reading I asked her mum if she thought Lauryn would be interested in doing a blog piece for my website. Without fear or hesitation, she jumped at the opportunity and even said it would be her honour to do so. I love her fearlessness and energy, if you meet her parents you will see how Lauryn got these traits.
I asked Lauryn a few questions and she answered them with no help from her parents as I really wanted to tap into her own, unique perspective. I hope you enjoy this as much as I did.
Hi Aunty Audrey,
So this is my presentation for your lovely health inspiring website, I have tried to put as much detail and info , but I hope you like it.
1. What does health mean to you?
Health to me means keeping fit physically, mentally and spiritually.
2. Why is it important to you?
It's important to me because if I don't keep healthy and fit, I will get very sick or even DIE!
3. What inspires you to be healthy?
When I watch, sometimes, on YouTube, there are these ads and the NHS are on them saying " stay safe, stay home, save lives". So I am making sure I wash my hands all the time. But also everyday mummy and daddy inspire me a lot with their exercises, keeping healthy and when talking about mental wellbeing. And people like you, Aunty Audrey, always helping others to improve their healthy living.
4. What are some ways I keep healthy everyday:
Wash my hands
Read a book
Ride a bike
Chatting to friends and family
Exercise with my parents
Help out with chores
5. How can I inspire my friends and family to keep healthy?
Set challenges like doing exercises whilst we’re Zooming
Talk about girls education and keeping ourselves educated through reading and watching informative movies like on Black Lives Matter
Encourage my parents to come on bike rides with me😁
Thank you Aunty Audrey for allowing me to write something on your blog, you’re amazing.
Children learn more from actions than they do from words. I love watching how Lauryn's parents continue to inspire and guide her. Nevertheless, I'm sure there is so much Lauryn teaches them too.
Lauryn is currently working on a poster to help her fundraise for books and pens for girls in Pakistan. She is inspired by Malala and her wish is to meet her one day.
Thank you Lauryn for writing this for me. Thankful to her parents who also allowed her to and continue to set a great foundation to be the little flourishing girl that she is.
